There’s something magical about returning to a place you love. My recent holiday in Turkey was not just a visit—it was a reunion with a country that has held a special place in my heart. The dynamic energy of Turkey welcomed me like an old friend, its pulse matching my own excitement as I reacquainted myself with its vibrant cities, rich culture, and warm hospitality.
From the moment I arrived, I felt at home. There’s a rhythm to Turkey—one that I had longed to feel again. Istanbul, with its bustling streets and vibrant markets, was alive with possibility. As I strolled through the city, I felt the unique vibration that only Turkey can offer. It was like stepping into a dance, where each step and turn was infused with history, beauty, and soul. Returning to my favorite areas, Ortaköy and Gülhane Park, felt like a homecoming. Ortaköy’s lively energy, with its cafes, boutiques, and views of the Bosphorus, was as enchanting as ever. And Gülhane Park—oh, how I’ve missed its emerald greenery! Walking among its towering trees, with the scent of blooming flowers filling the air, I felt utterly at peace. It was like the city had wrapped me in its arms, welcoming me back into its embrace.
Of course, no visit to Turkey would be complete without indulging in its culinary delights. The food was, as always, a feast for the senses. Whether I was enjoying succulent kebabs, fresh simit from street vendors, or savoring a leisurely Turkish breakfast, each bite seemed to deepen my connection to the country. The Turkish coffee I sipped felt like a ritual—a moment to pause and savor the rich flavors, a reflection of Turkey’s depth and complexity. And I must admit, I had more than my fair share of Turkish teas and sweets, each one making me fall in love with Turkey just a little bit more.
One of the most profound experiences of my trip was attending a dervish show. Watching the dervishes whirl, I was mesmerized. The grace of their movements, the way they seemed to transcend the physical world, brought me into a state of deep reflection. It was in that moment I had an epiphany: we are all channels—open vessels through which divine inspiration, wisdom, and knowledge flow. When we allow ourselves to feel good, to embrace joy and presence, we are open to receiving God’s inspiration. I felt a deep sense of connection, not just with myself, but with something far greater, something sacred.
The trip didn’t end there. I journeyed to Gökçeada Island, a place that felt like stepping into a different world. The energy of the island was unlike anywhere I had been before—lively, yet deeply grounded in its uniqueness. I met new people, shared stories, and, of course, indulged in special sweets unique to the island. Each bite was a reminder of the island’s rich history and the cultures that have shaped it. Visiting the villages of Zeytinli, Tepeköy, and Kaleköy enriched me deeply. These villages, with their Greek, Italian, and Turkish influences, felt like living mosaics, each piece contributing to the rich tapestry of Turkey’s culture.
And then there was Çanakkale. Walking through the city, I was reminded of its importance in Turkish history. It was here that Mustafa Kemal Atatürk achieved one of his greatest victories during the Gallipoli Campaign, a fierce battle that stretched from April 25, 1915 to January 9, 1916. Standing on the same ground where history was made, I felt a deep sense of reverence—not just for Turkey, but for the strength and resilience of its people. It was a humbling experience, one that reminded me of the courage and determination that has shaped this beautiful country.
As my trip came to an end, I found myself filled with gratitude. Turkey has given me so much—not just delicious food, stunning landscapes, and rich history, but a deep sense of connection to the world around me. Every moment was a gift, from the lively streets of Istanbul to the tranquil shores of Gökçeada, from the swirling dervishes to the powerful history of Çanakkale. Turkey, with its vibrant energy and warm embrace, had once again touched my heart in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
I left Turkey feeling enriched, inspired, and deeply connected to the country and its people. It’s a place that draws you in and makes you fall in love over and over again. And as I said my goodbyes, I couldn’t help but feel excited about the next time I would return. Because one thing is for sure—Turkey will always have a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to feel its magic again.
